Gina Costa was born on May 29, 1994. She began gymnastics in 1996 in mommy and me classes. She also played baseball, soccer and tap danced. When Gina was in kindergarten she decided the only sport she wanted to participate in was gymnastics. Gina is now a Level 10 and trains at Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, CA. Her coaches are Justin Howell, Liz Crandall and Donna Craig. Gina gets excellent grades in high school which includes a rigorous academic schedule. During her spare time Gina volunteers at the gym coaching the Level 5 and Level 6 team. She will graduate from high school in 2012.
Gina began competing in 2002. After finishing level six, Gina went straight to level seven in 2003. Later that spring she competed as a level eight at the USAIGC National Championships in Orlando, Florida. She became the USAIGC Level 8 National Beam Champion in that meet.
She moved to Airborne Gymnastics in the spring of 2004. She trained level eight in 2005 under Allan and Ericka Fusilero. In 2006, she was very successful. She won vault at the State Championships and floor at Regionals.
During the 2007 competitive season she competed level 9 and consistently scored higher with each meet. She placed second on vault at the State Championship. At the Regional Championship, she placed second on vault, third on beam and third all-around. That year she also placed second on floor and fourth all-around at Western National Championships.
In 2008, Gina again competed Level 9 amassing many medals throughout the season. She is the 2008 State Champion all-around, Vault and Bars. She also is the 2008 all-around, vault and floor Regional Champion. At the Western National Championship she placed 2nd on bars, vault, floor and the all-around.
2009 started off very successfully with an all-around Level 10 win at the Crystal Cup in Salt Lake City. Throughout the competitive season she continued her winning ways. Gina is the 2009 Level 10 State Champion on Floor. She placed second all-around At the Region 1 Championships she became the Region 1 Level 10 All Around Champion. She placed 8th on Bars at the Junior Olympic National Championships. In 2010, Gina finished fifth all-around at the Team OC Invitational. She only competed on beam at the State Championships. She finished fourth on bars at Regionals. In 2011, Gina finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She plaed third all-around at the Gliders Invitational. Gina finished fourth all-around at both the Spirit of the Flame Challenge and Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars and the all-around. Gina finished fourth all-around at Regionals. She finished 19th all-around at JO Nationals.
