Maria Cross was born on June 1, 1994. She trains at Excalibur Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2004, Maria competed level seven. She placed second on bars at the State Championships. She finished fourth all-around. She made the National TOPs "B" Team. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She won bars at the Capital Cup. She won floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed fifth on vault and fourth on bars. Maria made the National TOPs Team in the fall. She competed level nine in 2006. She finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. She finished fifth on bars at the 2007 Level 9 Regional Championships.

Maria moved up to level ten in 2008. She finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished in the top fifteen all-around. In 2010, she finished second on bars at the State Championships. She again finished in the top ten at Regionals. Maria only competed on bars for most of the 2010 season due to a broken leg early in the season. She won bars at the State Championships. Maria opened the 2010-2011 season at the Richmond Fall Classic, winning bars. She finished fourth all-around at the World Class Invitational. Maria finished third on beam at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet. She finished fourth all-around at the Excalibur Cup. At the State Championships, Maria finished sixth all-around with a 37.175.
