Christine Ida Shaffer was born on September 21, 1992. She trained at Elite Gymnastics during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2010.

In 2004, Christine competed level eight. She placed second all-around at the San Diego Classic. She won beam at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. Christine finished sixth all-around at Regionals. She continued competing level eight in 2005. She finished first on bars, beam and the all-around at the Wine Country Classic. She finished second on vault and third on floor at the State Championships. She finished third on floor at Regionals. Christine moved up to level nine in 2006. She finished eleventh all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals.

Christine continued competing level nine in 2007. She finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships. She placed fourth on floor at Regionals. Christine moved up to level ten in 2008. She finished third on bars at the Tachi Palace Invitational. She placed second all-around at the Black Tie Invitational. Christine finished second on vault at the Novato Classic. She placed second all-around at the Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she placed third on bars. She competed at Regionals. In 2009, Christine finished third on floor at the Winter Invitational. She finished second on floor at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At the State Championships, she finished fifth all-around. Christine finished 15th all-around at Regionals. In 2010, Christine won the all-around title at the Tachi Palace Invitational. She won bars and floor at the Winter Invitational. At the Byers Invitational, Christine won vault and floor. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. Christine finished seventh all-around at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Davis in 2011, Christine competed on vault twice. She competed on vault three times.
