Carly Teska was born on January 19, 1998. She has two sisters, Casey and Christy, who are also gymnasts. Carly trained at Diamond Gymnastics through the 2007 season. She then moved to 10.0 Gymnastics Academy in Massachusetts. She will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2007, Carly competed level six. She competed at the State Championships. She continued competing level six in 2008. She placed third on bars at the State Championships. In 2009, Carly won bars, floor and the all-around at the FJC Invitational as a level seven. She competed level eight the rest of the season. She placed fifth all-around at the Tim Daggett National Invitational. She finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on floor, third on beam and fifth all-around.

Carly began competing level nine in 2010. She finished second on floor at the Star Struck Invitational. She placed first on vault, beam and the all-around at the FJC New Years Invitational. At the Kick Off Classic, she won bars, floor and the all-around. Carly won beam and floor at the Cape Code Classic. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. Carly finished fifth all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she placed sixth on floor and eighth all-around. Carly began competing level ten in 2011. She won the all-around title at the FJC New Years Invitational. She placed fourth on vault and tenth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on beam. She finished tenth all-around.
