Courtney Thompson was born on February 23, 1997. She trained at Puget Sound Gymnastics in Washington through the 2008 season. She then moved to Auburn Gymnastics Center.
In 2004, Courtney competed level four. She finished in the top ten at the Mystery Classic. She continued competing level four in 2005, finishing second at Sectionals. She qualified to the State Championships. She competed level five in 2006. She qualified to the State Championships. Courtney competed level seven in 2007. She finished fifth all-around at the Fast Session. She qualified to the State Championships. She repeated this feat in 2008. In 2009, Courtney competed level eight. She placed third on beam at the Crystal Cup. She finished first on bars and third all-around at the MAC Open. She finished third on bars at the Byers Invitational. Courtney finished 15th all-around at the State Championships and 14th all-around at Regionals.
Courtney moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished sixth all-around at the Long Beach Open. She placed fourth on bars at the Emerald Team Challenge. Courtney finished third on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on bars and fifth all-around. She placed sixth on bars at Westerns. She finished 14th all-around. In 2011, Courtney finished first on beam at the March Madness meet. She finished second on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on floor and seventh all-around. Courtney placed ninth on bars at Westerns. She finished 26th all-around.
