Holly Cunningham was born on March 25, 1992. She trained at Shining Star in Tennessee. By 2002, her family moved to Colorado. Holly began training at National Gymnastics Village- Stars. She moved to Colorado Aerials in 2005. She participated in TOPs.
In 1999, Holly competed as a level four. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She advanced one level each year. She helped her gym win the Colorado Level 7 State Championships in 2002. She moved up to level eight in 2003. She won vault at Regionals and finished in the top ten all-around. She advanced to level nine in 2004. Holly finished fifth all-around at the WOGA Classic and California Classic. At Regionals, she finished fourth on bars! Her all-around finish qualified her for Westerns.
With her new gym in 2005, Holly qualified to junior international elite. She competed at the US Classic in July. In 2006, Holly finished third all-around at the Rocky Mountain State Games. She returned to level ten in 2007. She finished fourth all-around at States. Holly won a silver medal on vault. At Regionals, she won the all-around title. She finished second on vault, bars and beam. Holly competed on one event at JO Nationals.
In 2008, Holly continued producing great results. At the Battle in Seattle, she finished second on bars and fourth all-around. At States, she finished second on vault and fifth all-around. She won floor. She qualified for JO Nationals by placing fourth all-around at Regionals. She did not have her best meet. In 2009, she finished second on beam at the Rose City Classic. She won a bronze medal on vault at the Palm Beach Invitational. At the Great West Gymfest, she placed second on vault. She won beam. She finished third in the all-around. She finished fourth all-around at States. At Regionals, Holly placed fourth all-around and third on beam. She finished her season at JO Nationals. Holly signed with Kentucky in November of 2009.
