Kristen DeCosta was born in May 1994. She has trained at Metroplex Gymnastics for the majority of her club career. She spent the 2008 season at AWTC Gymnastics. Kristen also competes for her high school. In 2010, she helped her team with the Texas State Championships. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2001, Kristen made the National TOPs Gold Team. In 2006, Kristen competed level eight. She finished fourth all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed fifth on floor and fifteenth all-around. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. She placed third on vault. Kristen did not compete in 2007. She competed level eight in 2008. She finished third all-around at the TWU State Qualifier. At the WOGA Classic, she won floor. Kristen finished third on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed tenth.

Kristen moved up to level nine in 2009. She placed second on floor at the Texas Prime Meet. At the Rose City Classic, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She placed third on vault and beam at Regionals. She placed second on floor and the all-around. At Westerns, she finished third on beam and fifth all-around. She did not compete the full 2010 season because of an injury. She returned to place 15th all-around as a level ten at the State Championships. She finished third on beam and floor at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, Kristen placed tenth all-around. In 2011, Kristen placed first on beam at the Tiger Classic. She finished second on floor at the Metroplex Challenge. She placed third all-around at both the IGI Chicago Style and Alamo Classic. Kristen finished tenth all-around at the State Championships.
