Monique Delatorre was born on September 19, 1990. She is the daughter of Lisa and Martin. She trained at Flames in Arizona until 2005. She then switched to American Elite Gymnastics. Monique began competing for Carter's Gymnastics in 2007.

Moniqiue began competing as a level 8 in 2002 and repeated Level 8 in 2003. She did very well at the State Championships by placing 5th all-around and winning gold medals on vault and uneven bars. At Level 8 Regionals that year she took home the gold in the all-around, bars and vault.

In 2004, Monique moved up to Level 9. She won three events at Level 9 State including the all-around title. At Level 9 Regionals she finished second all-around and first on uneven bars. She attended Level 9 Westerns and placed second all-around.

2005 brought Monique to Level 10. She finished first on everything except for uneven bars at Level 10 States. Monique continued to do well at Level 10 Regionals where she finished second all-around and qualified to the Junior Olympic National Championships. At Junior Olympic Nationals she finished seventh all-around. Monique then successfully tested Junior International Elite and qualified to her first US National Championships. She placed 24th all-around at the Nationals.

She returned to level ten. In 2007, she finished first all-around at the Arizona Level 10 State Meet. She won Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished seventh all-around. In 2008, she won bars and the all-around at the Winter Sun Invitational. At Regionals, she won bars and placed second all-around. At JO Nationals, she finished fourth all-around. She placed second on floor. This earned her Arizona's Junior Olympic Gymnast of the Year award. In November, she signed with the University of California- Los Angeles. In 2009, she won bars and the all-around at the Parkettes Invitational. She won bars, beam and the all-around with a 38.575 at the Hard Rock Invitational.
