Morgan Marie Dennis was born to Al and Carla on October 1, 1988. Her younger sister Hunter also competed as a level ten gymnast. Morgan trained at Arena Gymnastics with Magda During, Jill Cookingham, Valdi Kolasa and West Marutani during her club career. She began gymnastics at the age of six.

Morgan competed level ten for several years. She finished fourth all-around at the New Jersey State Championships in 2001. In 2002, she qualified to the JO National Championships. Morgan also finished third all-around at States. She was first on bars and floor. To qualify to JO Nationals, she finished fourth all-around at Regionals. She continued competing as a level ten in 2003. Morgan was the New Jersey State Championships. At Regionals, she won the all-around title again. At JO Nationals, Morgan placed in the top ten all-around! After the level ten season, she qualified to junior national elite. Morgan won the US Challenge. She was named the New Jersey Optional Athlete of the Year.

In 2004, she qualified to senior international elite. Before the elite season, she competed at several open invitationals. Morgan finished third all-around at the Parkette Invite and Excalibur Cup. She won the Coaches Cup! Morgan won vault at her first elite meet, the National Podium Meet. At the US Classic, she placed ninth all-around. This qualified her for the US National Championships! Morgan ended her season at Nationals.

In 2005, she finished fourth all-around at the Parkette Invite. She was also second at the Twistars Invitational. Morgan competed at the US Classic. She barely missed a spot to qualify for the US Nationals. In November, she signed with the University of Alabama. Morgan dropped down to level ten in 2006. She was second at the Parkette Invite. She won the New Jersey State Championships. She ended her season at Regionals.

As a freshman, Morgan was on the Academic All-SEC Team. She earned first-team All-SEC on floor after placing second on floor at the SEC Championships. She finished fifth all-around. At the Regional Championships, she won vault and placed fourth all-around. At the NCAA Championships, she earned first-team All-American honors on floor and second-team in the all-around. During event finals, she won the floor title!

Morgan served as the team co-captain during her sophomore year. Once agian, she was on the Academic All-SEC team. She was first-team All-SEC on vault, beam and floor. She won vault, beam and floor at the SEC Championships. She palced second all-around. At NCAA Regionals, she won the all-around, vault and floor. She placed second on bars and third on beam. At the NCAA Championships, she was first-team All-American on floor. She earned second-team honors on bars and in the all-around. She finished fourth on floor in event finals.

She continued to be a major contributor as a junior in 2009. She competed in the all-around twelve times. She set career highs on all four events and in the all-around. She finished second all-around at the SEC Championships. Morgan won vault and floor. She earned first-team All-SEC honors in the all-around, vault and floor. She was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. At the Regional Championships, she won floor and placed third all-around. Morgan earned second-team All-American honors on vault and firs-tteam All-American honors on bars.
