Haley Deprospero was born in Texas on September 27, 1987. She began gymnastics at the age of two. She began competing at the age of eight. Haley trained at University of Gymnastics during her elite career. She attended the University of Oklahoma for undergraduate training. She is engaged to Olympian John Horton. Haley attends medical school at the University of Texas-Houston.
In 2000, she competed as a national elite. She qualified and competed at the National Gymnastics Festival. In 2001, Haley made junior international elite. She participated in the US Classic. She did junior international elite again in 2002. In the spring, she finished second on floor at the WOGA Classic. She finished second all-around at the Heart of Texas meet. Her first elite meet was the American Classic. She did decently. At the US Classic, Haley qualified to her first US National Championships. She ended her season at Nationals!
Her first season as a senior international elite was in 2003. She finished fourth all-around at the WOGA Classic. She then placed in the top fifteen at the National Podium Meet. At the American Classic, Haley finished in the top twenty as well. She qualified to Nationals at the US Classic. At Nationals, Haley did very well.
She started her 2004 season with several meets. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she finished third all-around. Haley won the Pikes Peak Cup! She also placed in the top fifteen at the National Podium Meet. Haley then competed at the American Classic. She did not finish her season because of injuries. In 2005, Haley came roaring back. She finished tenth all-around at the US Classic. She ended her season at Nationals with a top twenty performance.
That fall she began school at the University of Oklahoma. Haley competed all-around at several meets during the season. She won beam at Regionals. Haley competed all-around at the NCAA Championships. As a sophomore, she continued competing in the all-around. She placed second on bars and beam at the TWU quad meet. She won beam against Stanford. Haley was on the All-Big 12 Academic team.
As a junior in 2008, she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District at-large team. Haley earned All-Big honors after winning beam at the Big 12 Championships. She was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week. She earned her second Academic All-Big 12 honor. She won eight beam titles throughout the season including at Minessota and Auburn. As a senior, she continued competing in the all-around. She won vault against Iowa State. She won beam against TWU. She defeated her balance beam title at the Big 12 Championships. She earned her third Academic All-Big 12 honor. For the second year in a row, she was selected to the at-large thidr team of the COSIDA All-Academic team.
