Megan Devencenzi was born to Patti and John in Concord, California on January 11, 1986. She has two older brothers, Ryan and Loren. She trained at Rohnert Park Gymnastcs in 2003. Megan trained at Cal West Gymnastics with coaches Robert and Kristin Shawler in 2004.
In 2002, Megan competed as a level ten. Megan qualified to the JO National Championships in 2002. She placed third all-around and first on beam at states in 2003. She finished eighth all-around at Regionals. With her new gym in 2004, Megan placed second all-around at the California Classic. She finished fifth all-around at Regionals! This qualified her for the JO National Championships. Megan placed 12th all-around! She was eighth on vault and beam.
Megan began school at Oregon State in the fall of 2004. She competed in all thirteen meets during her freshman year. She eventually was the anchor on vault. She finished second on vault at the Pac-10 Championships. She also competed on floor. She was named OSU gymnastics "Newcomer of the Year." She earned a gymnastics scholarship at Oregon State after her freshmen year. As a sophomore, Megan competed on vault and floor. She was a Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2006 and 2007.
During summer workouts in 2006, she had an injury while working on uneven bars. She tore the labrum in her left shoulder. This required surgery in August 2006. Megan was still able to compete in all the meets in 2007. Despite the fact she was cleared to work out only in December, Megan was able to regain her vault and lead-off position on floor. In 2008, she competed on vault.
