Rachel Dickson was born on November 9, 1997. She has a younger sister, Katie, who is also a gymnast. She competed level seven in 2010. Rachel trained at Splitz Gymnastics until the conclusion of the 2007 season. She then moved to Michigan Elite Gymnastics Academy (MEGA). Rachel will graduate from high school in 2016.

In December of 2005, Rachel began competing as a level five gymnast. She finished fourth all-around at the Region V Cup. She continued competing level five throughout 2006. She placed second all-around and first on balance beam at the Twistars Invitational. At the IGI Chicago Style, she finished third on beam and second on floor. Rachel placed third on vault and second on floor at the Early State Championships.

Rachel moved up to level six in 2007. She won floor and the all-around at the Twistars Invitational. At the IGI Chicago Style, she won bars, floor and the all-around. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at States. In the fall, Rachel made the National TOPs Team. She skipped level seven and began competing level eight in 2008. She won the Twistars Invitational. At the IGI Chicago Style, she finished second all-around. Rachel won bars and beam. She ended her season by placing 16th out of 62 at Regionals.

She moved up to level nine in 2009. She won beam and placed second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Motown Madness meet, she won beam. She finished second in the all-around. Rachel won floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault and the all-around! She finished third on bars and floor. Her final level nine meet was Easterns where she placed second all-around! She won bars. During the summer, Rachel qualified to hopes elite. She finished sixth on bars at the US Challenge.

In December of 2009, Rachel competed level ten at the Region V Cup. In January, she finished fifth all-around and second on beam at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, Rachel won bars. She won beam and finished third all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Circle of Stars meet, she finished third all-around. Rachel placed tenth at the State Championships. She won bars and beam at Regionals. Her third place all-around finish qualified for the JO National Championships where she finished fifth on beam.
