Danielle McNair was born on September 3, 1994. Her twin sister, Nicolette, is also a gymnast. The twins competed in trampoline and tumbling and artistic with Gym Team USA until the gym closed in the fall of 2004. They then moved to Gym-Max and began competing artistic full-time.

In 2002, Danielle finished eighth on level five tumbling and tenth on level seven double mini at the JO National Championships. She placed second in level eight double mini in 2003. In the fall, she made the National Jumpstart Team. She ended her trampoline career in 2004. She earned a spot on the National Jumpstart Team for the second time. She won level nine trampoline and level nine double mini at the State Championships. At JO Nationals, she finished first on level nine double mini. She placed third on level nine trampoline and level eight tumbling.

Danielle began competing level six artistic in the fall of 2005. She won vault and finished second all-around at the First Prelim. At the Judges Cup, she won bars and placed second all-around. She won bars and floor at the second prelim. At the Butterfly Classic, Danielle placed second all-around. She finished second all-around at the 3rd Prelim. At West Sectionals, she finished fourth all-around. She ended her season at States by placing first on beam. She finished second on bars, floor and the all-around.

In January of 2006, she began competing level seven. Danielle finished third on floor at the San Diego Classic. At the State Championships, she placed third on floor. She moved up to level nine in 2007. SHe finished third on beam at the LA Classic. At the State Championships, she finished third on floor. Danielle placed second on vault and third on floor at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed seventh on beam. She finished 15th all-around.

She moved up to level ten in 2008. She finished second on vault at the National Judges Cup and third on vault at the AOGC Invitational. She own vault and beam at the Top Flight Invite. At the State Championships, Danielle placed third all-around. She finished first on vault at Regionals. At JO Nationals, Danielle placed third on vault and 12th all-around. In 2009, she won beam and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. She competed as a junior pre-elite at the American Challenge. She qualified to junior international elite. Danielle did not compete at the US Classic because of a neck injury. In 2010, she finished fourth on vault at the Long Beach Open. Danielle placed third all-around at the 2011 Team OC Classic as a level ten.
