Katy Dodds was born on November 21, 1991. She trained at Hill's Gymnastics during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2010.

In 2005, Katy competed level nine. She finished second on vault at the Maryland Classic. At Regionals, she won vault. She finished third all-around. Katy placed eighth on vault at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2006. She finished second on bars at the Starz and Stripes Invitational. Katy finished second all-around at the State Championships, earning a spot on the Maryland State Team. Katy placed fourth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 26th all-around. She placed tenth on vault. Katy did not compete in 2007.

She continued competing level ten in 2008. Katy finished third on vault at the Hard Rock Invitational. She placed first on beam and fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on vault and 12th all-around. In 2009, Katy won vault, floor and the all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She won vault at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. Katy placed first on beam and vault at the State Championships. She earned a spot on the Maryland State Team. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. She placed ninth on vault at JO Nationals.

Katy concluded her club career in 2010. She finished third all-around at the Maryland Classic. She won floor at the Parkette Invitational. At the AOGC Invitational, Katy placed third all-around. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Tim Rand Invitational. She won vault at the State Championships. She earned a spot on the Maryland State Team for the third time. At Regionals, she won vault. She finished 12th all-around.
