Nykaela Dodson was born on May 20, 1997. She trains at Gymnastics East in Washington.
In 2005, Nykaela competed level five. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. She won a silver medal on vault. She continued competing level five in the spring of 2006. She placed fourth all-around at the Flips USA Invitational where she also won vault. Nykaela swept the gold medals at the Blooms and Blossoms meet. At the Spring State Championships, she won beam and the all-around. She moved up to level six in the fall, winning bars, beam and the all-around at the Bubble Bash. She placed second all-around at States. She won beam and floor. In the spring of 2007, she won the all-around at the Blooms and Blossoms meet.
In 2008, she competed level seven. She won bars and beam at the Seattle Open. At the Battle in Seattle, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She won bars and placed third all-around at States. Nykaela moved up to level eight for the 2009 season. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Great West Gymfest. She competed in the Big Show where she won balance beam. At the State Championships, she won beam and placed second all-around. At Regionals, she won beam and placed second all-around.
Nykaela began competing level nine during the 2010 season. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Battle in Seattle meet, she finished first on beam and second all-around. She won a silver medal on vault at the Return of the Titans meet. At the State Championships, she finished second on beam. Nykaela placed third all-around at Regionals. She finished second on floor. She ended her season by placing fourth all-around at Westerns. She placed fifth on bars and floor and fourth on beam. Nykaela will compete level ten in 2011.
