Deandrea Smith was born on June 15, 1991. She trained at South Texas Gymnastics Academy which was later renamed USA Aerial Athletics.

In 2002, Deandrea competed level 10. At the Regional Championships she took first all-around. Her final meet of the season was the JO National Championships. She finished 18th all-around with a fall on beam. However, Deandrea took second on vault and fourth on floor. In 2003, she moved up to junior international elite. At the US Classic she finished 11th all-around, qualifing to the USA National Championships. During her floor routine she took a hard fall and was carried away on a strecher. She qualified to the 2004 National Championships but scratched because of an injury. She returned to level ten in 2005. Deandrea retired after the competition season.

Deandrea participated in track during high school. She specialized in the 400 Meter Dash.
