Emily Alexander was born on November 6, 1996. She trains at Oasis Gymnastics in Arizona. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2003, Emily competed level four in the fall season. She finished sixth all-around at the Harvest Cup. Emily finished tenth at the State Championships. She continued competing level four in the spring of 2004. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Winter Classic. She placed second all-around at both the Desert Devils Classic and Cactus Cup. Emily won beam at the Spring State Championships. She was named Arizona's Most Improved Level 4. She competed level five in the fall. She finished second all-around at the Rock-n-Roll Classic and School Days Invitational. Emily finished third on beam and floor at the State Championships. In the spring of 2005, Emily finished third all-around at the Shamrock Invitational as a level six.

Emily competed level seven in 2006. She finished third on beam and floor at the Winter Sun Invitational. She placed third on floor at the Long Beach Open. Emily finished third on beam at the State Championships. She qualified to National TOPs Testing. In 2007, Emily won beam at the Winter Sun Invitational. She won the all-around title at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars, beam and the all-around. She was named Arizona's Most Outstanding Level 7. She moved up to level eight in 2008. She finished first on beam at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational and Cactus Cup. She won beam, floor and the all-around titles at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished fifth all-around. She was named Arizona's Most Outstanding Level 8. In 2009, Emily won beam and the all-around at the Winter Sun Invitational, with a 38.075. She also won beam and the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. Emily placed second all-around and first on beam at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals.

In 2010, Emily began competing level nine. She won the all-around title at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished first on vault at the Mardi Gras Challenge. Emily placed third all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She did not compete in the championship season due to a shoulder injury.
