Emily Martin was born on September 14, 1994. Her younger sister Zoe is also a gymnast. Emily began competing for Arizona Olympian Gymnastics. She moved to Arizona Illusions in the summer of 2004. She moved to Desert Lights for the 2005 season.

In 2003, Emily began competing level five. She competed at the State Championships. She continued competing level five in the spring of 2004. She placed fifth on bars at the Spring State Championships. In the fall, she moved up to level six. She competed at the State Championships. Emily continued competing level six in 2005. She placed second on bars at the Phoenix Open Gymnastics Challenge and Flagstaff Winter Classic. At the Spring State Championships, she won beam and the all-around. She placed second on floor. She opened the fall season by winning bars and the all-around at the School Days Invitational. At the PGA Invitational, she won bars and the all-around again. She placed second on bars at the Tumbleweeds Halloween Invite. At the State Championships, she finished second on bars and fifth all-around.

Emily moved up to level seven in 2006. She finished third on beam at the Winter Sun Invitational. At the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, she finished fourth on bars. Emily won a silver medal on bars and a bronze medal on beam at the Flagstaff Winter Classic. At the State Championships, she finished third on bars and eighth all-around. She advanced to level eight in 2007. At the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She placed second on bars at States. She ended her season with a fourth place finish on vault at Regionals.

In 2008, Emily competed level nine. She finished fourth on beam at the Winter Sun Invitational. At the Hardrock Invitational, she finished third on vault. At the Harley Davidson Battle in Seattle, she placed third on floor. Emily placed third on vault and bars at the State Championships. She ended her season at Regionals.

Emily repeated level nine in 2009. At the Winter Sun Invitational, she finished third on beam. She placed third on bars at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the San Diego Classic, she won beam. At the State Championships, Emily finished second on bars and in the all-around. She won floor. At Regionals, she placed eighth all-around. Emily ended her season at Westerns.
