Rebecca Engberg was born on June 8, 1990. She will graduated from Newport High School in 2008. She trained at Gymnastics East in Washington during her club career. She now attends the University of Pennsylvania.

In 2000, Rebecca competed as a level five. She finished third on bars at the Harbor Classic. She moved up to level six in 2001. Rebecca competed as a level seven in 2003. She moved up to level eight in 2004. She won vault and floor at the California Classic. She repeated level eight in 2005. Rebecca finished third on bars and beam and the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She only competed on bars at the State Championships.

Her first year as a level nine was in 2006. She placed second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. Rebecca won beam and floor. She won the all-around title at the Blooms and Blossoms meet. At States, she won beam and finished fifth all-around. She finished second all-around at Regionals, qualifying for Westerns. At Regionals, Rebecca also picked up a gold on floor. Her final meet of the season was Westerns. She finished third on floor. She finished eleventh all-around. Rebecca repeated level nine in 2007. She won the all-around at the Great West Gymfest. She also won every event except for vault. At States, she finished first on vault. She won Regionals! At Westerns, Rebecca finished fourth all-around.

In 2008, she moved up to level ten. She competed on bars, beam and floor at the 2008 Seattle Open. At the Harley Davidson Battle in Seattle, she finished third on bars, beam, floor and the all-around. At the State Championships, she won beam. She finished second on floor and fourth all-around. At Regionals, she finished second on bars, beam, floor and the all-around. She finished fourth on vault. She ended her club career at JO Nationals. As a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009, Rebecca participated in every meet. She competed in the all-around in all but three meets.
