Ruby Engreitz was born on August 27, 1990. She trained at Northwest Aerials through the 2005 season. She then moved to Leading Edge Gymnastics Academy. Ruby graduated from high school in 2008.
In 2002, Ruby competed level eight. She won bars at Regionals. She placed fourth all-around. In 2004, Ruby won floor at the State Championships as a level nine. She competed level ten in 2005. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second all-around. Ruby competed at JO Nationals. In 2006, she won the all-around title at the Hard Rock Invitational. At Regionals, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. She competed at JO Nationals. In 2007, Ruby finished third all-around at the National Judges Cup. She placed second all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational. She won floor at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed fifth on floor, seventh on bars and eighth all-around. Ruby did not compete in 2008.
As a freshman at Washington in 2009, she competed in eleven meets. She competed on bars ten times and vault six times. Ruby competed in the all-around once. During her sophomore season in 2010, she won bars against Arizona State. She saw action on vault, bars and floor. Ruby was a Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team selection. Ruby earned nine event titles in 2011. She won bars at a quad meet, against Cal, at SPU, at ASU, and against the Air Force Academy. She was a Pac-10 All-Academic first-team selection. She also earned All-Pac-10 second-team honors on bars.
