Lucy Ennis was born on September 19, 1989. She trained at Roseville Gymnastics through the 2004 season. She then moved to Twin City Twisters. She graduated from high school in 2008.
In 2003, Lucy competed level nine. She finished third on bars at Regionals. In 2004, Lucy finished second all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed first on vault and the all-around! She also placed sixth on bars and floor and tenth on beam. Lucy competed level ten in 2006. She finished second on bars at the San Diego Classic. At Regionals, she placed third on vault and beam. She finished fourth all-around. Lucy finished 19th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2007, she finished first on bars and the all-around at the Go For It Classic. She won vault at Regionals, She placed third all-around. At JO Nationals, she placed seventh on bars and ninth all-around. Lucy won beam and the all-around at the 2008 State Championships. She finished second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed seventh on bars and the all-around.
As a freshman at Minnesota in 2009, Lucy competed in vault on every meet. She also competed on bars and floor. She finished second on bars against NIU. In 2010, Lucy competed as an all-arounder three times. She competed on vault and bars in all fourteen meets. Lucy also competed on floor seven times. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. In 2011, Lucy won bars against Iowa State. She also won bars at the Best of Minnesota Meet and at Illinois. She won vault against Air Force.
