Abbie Epperson was born on March 17, 1996. She is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Epperson. She has one brother, Austin, who is also a gymnast. Abbie competed for TAGS South in Minnesota before moving to Texas in 2006. She trained at WOGA until the spring of 2009. Abbie now trains at Elite Champion, which her parents own. She will graduate from high school in 2014.
Abbie competed level six in December 2005. She finished second all-around and won floor at the Peppermint Twist. In 2006, she finished sixth all-around and fourth on balance beam as a level seven at the Minnesota State Championships. Abbie moved up to level eight in 2007. She finished fourth all-around at the Maryland Classic. She finished third on vault and floor. At the AOGC Invitational, Abbie won vault and placed second all-around. She won bars at the Riverwalk meet. At the Texas State meet, she finished second all-around and second on bars. She ended her season at Regionals. She won uneven bars.
Abbie was very successful as a level nine in 2008. At the WOGA Classic, she finished second all-around. She won floor and placed third on vault. At Regionals, she finished third all-around with a 37.950. She won bars and placed third on beam. She ended her season with a top twenty finish at Westerns. Abbie was scheduled to compete level ten in 2009 but an illness kept her out of the season. She returned to compete level ten in 2010. Abbie placed third all-around at the Cancun Classic. She won vault and the all-around at the Texas Prime Meet. She did not compete in the championship season to prepare for elite.
