Eriel Santagado was born on July 22, 1994. Her older sister, Charly, is also a gymnast. Eriel trained at Brandy Johnson Gymnastics through the 2006 season. She then moved to Kitty's All Stars. She competed for Broadway Gymnastics in 2010 before moving to Orlando Metro Gymnastics- Baldwin Park. Eriel is also a competitive dancer and has won many prestigious awards. Eriel will graduate from high school in 2015.

In the fall of 2005, Eriel competed level five. She competed level seven in 2008. She finished first on beam at the State Championships. Eriel began competing level eight in 2009. She placed second on floor at the Gasparilla Classic. She finished in the top fifteen at both the State and Regional Championships. In 2010, Eriel finished third on beam at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She placed second all-around at the Magical Classic. At the Excalibur Cup, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Eriel also won beam, floor and the all-around at the Gasparilla Classic. At the State Championships, she finished sixth all-around. She won beam and placed fifth all-around at Regionals.

Eriel continued competing level eight in 2011. She finished third all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Gasparilla Classic. At the State Championships, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. Eriel won the all-around title at Regionals. In 2012, Eriel move up to level nine. She finished third on beam at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She won floor and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She placed first on beam and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. She won beam and the all-around at the Tim Rand Invitational. At the City of Lights meet, she won the all-around title. Eriel finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. She placed third on beam and floor. At Regionals, she placed third on bars and seventh all-around. She was the alternate for Easterns.
