Kelly Ann Fee was born in Crownpoint, Indiana on June 19th, 1987. She is the daughter of Daniel and Elaine. She has two sisters, Catherine and Colleen. Kelly resided in St. Charles, Illinois before going to college. She began gymnastics at the age of six in 1990. Kelly trained at Midwest Academy until the 2001 JO National Championships. She trained at IGI from 2001 to 2005.
In 2001, she competed as a level ten. Kelly placed first all-around at the State Championships. She qualified to the JO National Championships at Regionals. She finished sixteenth all-around at JO Nationals. She qualified to junior international elite after the level ten season. She competed at the US Classic. Kelly continued competing as an elite in 2002. She finished fourteenth all-around at the US Classic. That qualified her for the US National Championships. In 2003, she placed fourth all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She did not compete as an elite because of an injury.
She returned to senior international elite in 2004. Kelly placed in the top twenty at the American Classic. She finished fifth all-around at the US Classic! At the US National Championships, Kelly was a few spots away from making the National Team. In early 2005, she went to her first international meet, the USA vs. Japan competition. Her performance earned her a spot on the International Tri-Meet Team. She was also added to the US National Team! Kelly competed at her third US National Championships.
Kelly began college at Stanford in the fall of 2005. Her first season was in the spring of 2006. She competed on bars, beam and floor throughout the season. She was honored for her excellent work in school by being named an Academic All-American by the NACGC. During her sophomore year, she earned first-team All-American honors on vault. She was an All-Pac-10 selection. She competed on bars, beam and floor during the season. As a junior, she served as team captain. She earned her third Academic All-American honor. She was on the Pac-10 All-Academic team for the second consecutive year. She competed on bars, beam and floor. As a senior, Kelly earned her third Pac-10 All-Academic honor. Unfortunately, she injured her ankle during her floor routine at the NCAA Championships.
