Megan Ferguson was born on September 8, 1989. She trained at GAGE until moving to Diamond Gymanstics from 2001 to 2002. She then began competing for Eagles Gymnastics in Missouri in 2003. Megan began college at the University of Oklahoma in the fall of 2008.

In 1999, Megan competed at the Regional Championships as a level eight. Megan was a member of the National TOPs Team in 2000. She competed level nine in 2001. She won the all-around at the Kansas State Championships. At Westerns, she finished second on bars and eleventh all-around. Megan continued competing level nine in 2002. She won the all-around at States. At Regionals, she won beam and the all-around. At Westerns, she finished third on floor, first on beam and first in the all-around.

Megan had a great season as a first year level ten. At the Missouri State Championships, she placed second all-around and third on vault. She won the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished second on beam and eighth all-around. She continued to produce strong results in 2004, qualifying for her second JO National Championships. In 2005, Megan won the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam and the all-around. She finished second on floor. She ended her season at JO Nationals.

In 2006, she won the all-around at States. She won beam and floor at Regionals on her way to finishing second all-around. At JO Nationals, she won balance beam. She finished 12th all-around. Megan was named Eagles Gymnast of the Year. In 2007, she won the all-around at States for the third year in a row. At JO Nationals, she won her second straight balance beam title. She also placed 12th all-around. In 2008, Megan competed at her sixth JO National Championships.

Megan made an immediate impact as a freshman at Oklahoma. She became the first freshman to win multiple titles at the Big 12 Championships after winning bars and beam. She was named to the All-Big 12 team on bars and beam. At the NCAA Championships, she earned All-American honors on balance beam. Megan was also named OU's Newcomer of the Year and All-Academic Scholastic honors.
