Kasey Fillmore was born on January 6, 1989. She has a younger brother named Kyle. She was coached by her mom, Robin Deary-Fillmore, at Deary's Gymnastics. She was named High School Gymnast of the Year three out of her four years in high school.

In 2003, Kasey competed as a level nine. She finished fifth all-around and second on bars at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2004. Kasey placed third on bars at Regionals. In 2006, she won the CIAC State Open all-around title. She finished second all-around and first on bars at the Level 10 State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on bars and seventh all-around. Kasey qualified to the JO National Championships.

She continued competing as a level ten in 2007. She placed first all-around at States! She also won beam and floor. At Regionals, Kasey won bars. She finished second all-around. Kasey ended her JO career at the JO National Championships with a fifth place finish on bars.

Kasey did not compete during her freshman year at Bowling Green because of an injury. During her first season competing in 2009, she opened the season by winning her first career event on beam against Northern Illinois. She posted eight top-three finishes. She competed in eleven meets on uneven bars. She also participated on floor ten times. She earned Kasey Coach's Award.
