Jacqueline Flanery was born on July 12, 1987 to Rick and Chala. She trained at Mercury Gymnastics until moving to Eagles in 2005. In addition to gymnastics, Jackie participated in track and cheerleading for Plattsburg High School.

As a club athlete, Jackie competed level ten. She placed in the top ten at the 2005 Regional Championships. In 2006, Jackie placed 13th all-around at the JO National Championships. She also finished fifth on bars.

As a freshman at Oklahoma, Jackie competed on vault and floor. She won vault against Iowa. She finished third on floor against Missouri and Central Michigan. She also finished third on vault at the TWU Quad Meet. Jackie continued to improve as a sophomore, competing on vault, bars and floor. She earned All-Big 12 honors after finishing third on floor. She also received second-team All-Big 12 Academic honors. Jackie won floor against Minnesota. In her first collegiate bars routine at the Cancun Classic, she won first place. Jackie had several high placings on vault and floor throughout the season.

Jackie competed on vault and floor as a sophomore. She earned Academic All-Big 12 honors and was an NACGC All-Academic Scholar athlete.
