April Flood was born on April 7, 1994. She trained at Barlett Gymnastics Center through the 2009 season. She spent one year with Premier North. She began training at Legacy Elite Gymnastics in the summer of 2010. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2007, April competed level seven. She finished fifth on floor at the IGI Chicago Style. She placed fourth on floor at the Midwest Open. She moved up to level eight in 2008. She continued competing level eight in 2009. She won floor at the King Arthur Invite.

April began competing level nine in 2010. She finished third on floor at the St. Valentines Classic. She placed second on floor at the Midwest Open. She competed at the State Championships. In 2011, she finished second on beam at the Bravo Classic. She finished third on floor at the WOGA Classic. At the Arena Classic, she won balance beam. She placed second all-around with a 37.550. She finished first on bars and the all-around at the State Championships. April finished third on vault and sixth all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she placed third all-around! She also finished sixth on vault, third on bars and first on beam.
