Natalie Foley was born on January 1, 1984 in Denver, Colorado. Her parents are Steve and Cindy. Steve played football for the Denver Broncos and Tulane. She has one brother, David, who plays football for Colorado State University. She started gymnastics in 1993. Tom Forster and Luminita Misenco were her club coaches at Colorado Aerials. In 2000, Natalie made the level 10 national team.
She went elite in 2001. Her first elite meet, the 2001 US Classic, was held in Ponoma, California. She placed fifth all-around and won the vault competition. Her next meet was the US National Championships. She made the national team after placing seventh all-around. Natalie was also second on vault and eighth on bars. Her bars score would have been much higher if she had not had to stop and fix her grip. Natalie's grip tore off the velcro. Despite the bar's fall she became an alternate for the 2001 World Championships Team! Natalie was able to travel to Ghent and also to Cancun for the Pan Am Championships.
In the fall of 2002 she began as a freshman at Stanford University. Her first season as a college gymnast was in 2003. She earned First-Team All-America honors in the all-around and Second-Team All-America honors on vault and bars. Her first major college meet was the 2003 Pac-10 Championships. She placed fourth on beam and fifth on floor with scores above 9.9. She earned all-conference honors as an all-arounder. At the NCAA Regional Championshups sh took second all-around and won vault. Her final meet of the 2003 season as at the NCAA Championships Natalie finished seventh in the all-around.
Her sophmore season was even better then 2003. She earned First-Team All-America honors on vault and Second-Team All-America honors on bars and floor. At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships Natalie scored her first perfect ten! Natalie also won first on vault, bars and became the first Stanford gymnast to win a Pac-10 all-around title! At the NCAA Regional Championships she won vault and helped Stanford qualify to the NCAA Championships. NCAA Championships went very well for the Stanford team. They placed third all-around and Natalie scored a 39.4 in the all-around at the NCAA Super Six!
Natalie's junior season in 2005 was not successful in results for the Stanford gymnasts. The team did have great learning results after many injuries. Co-captain Natalie had a early season injury but was back in action for the bigger meets. She placed sixth in the all-around at the Pac-10 Championships and won fourth on bars. She also finished eighth at the Regional Championships to finish in eighth. Stanford did not qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2005 or 2006. However, Natalie qualified as an individual during her senior year.
