Sabrina Maria Franceschelli was born on May 17, 1988. She is the daughter of Theresa and Nicholas Franceschelli. Sabrina has three siblings. She has two sisters, Heather and Angiolina, and a brother Nick. She trained at Gymnastics and More until 2000. Her coaches then opened Brestyan's American Gymnastics. She trained there until 2002. She the moved to Exxcel Gymnastics for the 2003 season. Sabrina made her final move to Massachusetts Gymnastics Center in 2004.
Sabrina made the 1996, 1997, and 1998 TOPs National Team. She made child national elite in 1999. She finished fourth overall at the American Challenge. She was named to the National Training Squad. In 2000, Sabrina competed as a child national elite again. She made the National Training Squad for the second year in a row.
In 2001, Sabrina qualified to junior international elite. She competed at the US Classic. She competed as a junior international elite again in 2002. She took the last spot for the US National Championships at the US Classic. In 2003, Sabrina competed as a junior international elite. She moved up to the senior international elite divison in 2004.
She dropped down to level ten for the 2005 season. She finished fourth all-around at Regionals. Sabrina finished third on vault and second on bars as well. At JO Nationals, she finished sixth on bars.
As a freshman at LSU, Sabrina was a mainstay in the vault and beam lineups. She also competed on bars three times. She did not score below a 9.7 on vault the whole season. During her sophomore season she competed on all four events. She won bars against Iowa for her first career event title. Sabrina also won floor against Kentucky. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a NACGC Academic All-American. In 2009, Sabrina earned second-team All-American status in the all-around. She competed in the all-around at ten of the fifteen meets. She was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season.
