Lily Gaffney was born on April 26, 1994. She trains at Leading Edge Gymnastics Academy in Washington. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2003, Lily competed level five. She finished second all-around at the Mystery Classic. She won vault and bars. Lily competed level seven in 2005. She placed second on bars at the State Championships. In 2006, Lily represented Team Washington at the National Judges Cup where she placed first on bars and third all-around. At the Flips USA Invitational, she won bars and placed second all-around. Lily also won bars at the Hard Rock Invitational.

Lily competed level eight in 2007. She won bars and the all-around at the Flips USA Invitational. She placed third at both the Seattle Open and Hard Rock Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed second on bars and floor. Lily won vault at Regionals. She finished second on beam and third all-around. She moved up to level nine in 2008. She finished second on floor at the Seattle Open. She placed third all-around at the Battle in Seattle. Lily won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Emerald Challenge. At the State Championships, she won bars and placed second all-around. She won beam and floor and placed second all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she finished fifth on beam and eighth all-around.

She moved up to level ten in 2009. She placed third on floor at the MAC Open and Great West GymFest. In 2010, Lily won bars and placed third all-around at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals. Lily finished third all-around at the 2011 National Judges Cup. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Seattle Invitational. She placed fourth all-around at the Bumbershoot Charity Choice Invitational and Seattle Open.
