Carlyn Toi Garcia was born on June 29, 1991. She trains at Docksiders Gymnastics in Maryland. In 2001, she began competing as a level six. She finished first on floor and fourth all-around at States. She moved up to level seven in 2002. She won the all-around state title. She also won bars and finished second on floor.

In 2003, she competed as a level eight. She won vault at the State Championships. She finished third all-around. Toi moved up to level nine in 2004. She finished first all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. Her final meet of the season was Easterns. In 2005, she moved up to level ten. Toi won the Parkette Invitational. She finished third all-around at the Winter Sun Invitational. At the Regional Championships, Toi finished third all-around and second on bars. She concluded her season at the JO National Championships.

She began her 2006 season in late 2005, by wining the all-around title at the Commonwealth Cup. She then won floor at the Parkette Invitational. Toi placed second all-around at the Circle of Stars. She won the Sweetheart Invitational. At States, Toi won vault, bars and floor. She finished third all-around. At Regionals, she had a fall on beam that kept her from qualified to JO Nationals. In 2007, she finished third all-around at the Parkette Invitational. Unfortunately, on vault, which was her last event, she suffered a compound fracture of both bones in her leg. The injury required surgery the next day and a long recovery.

Later that year she came back at the Commonwealth Cup on vault and bars. She won both events. She went on to win the all-around at the Chirstmas on the Chesapeake for teh second year in a row. She finished fourth all-around at the 2008 Parkette Invite. Toi placed second all-around at States. At Regionals and JO Nationals she finished fifth all-around. She also placed second on floor at JO Nationals. Toi signed her National Letter of Intent to Auburn University in November. A month later, she finished third on bars at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet.

In January of 2009, she won bars and floor at the Brestyan Invitational. She finished third all-around at the Maryland Classic. She placed third all-around at the Parkettes Invitational. At the Sweetheart Invitational, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. She won vault and floor at the Malibu Coast Challenge. At States, she finished third all-around. She did not compete at Regionals.
