Kaycee Gassaway was born on November 14, 1992. She trained at Naydenov Gymnastics during her club career. She graduated from high school a year early in 2010.

In 2001, Kaycee competed level six. She won bars and the all-around at the Rainier Cup. She moved up to level eight in 2002. She won floor at Regionals. Kaycee competed level ten in 2004. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. At JO Nationals, she placed eighth on vault. She finished 19th all-around. Kaycee finished third on bars at the 2005 Cancun Classic. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Surf City Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars and the all-around. Kaycee finished fourth all-around at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.

Kaycee finished fourth on vault at the Hard Rock Invitational and fourth on beam at the Emerald Team Challenge in 2006. At Regionals, she placed second on vault and in the all-around. At JO Nationals, she won uneven bars! She finished eighth on floor and fifth all-around. In 2007, Kaycee finished second on bars at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won bars and the all-around. Kaycee finished seventh on floor at JO Nationals. She missed the 2008 season due to a back injury.

She successfully returned in 2009, qualifying to JO Nationals. She finished 14th all-around and tenth on bars. In 2010, Kaycee won vault at the Battle in Seattle. She finished second all-around at the Malibu Coast Challenge. Kaycee won floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on vault and third all-around. She ended her season at JO Nationals.
