Gabrielle Douglas was born on December 31, 1995. She trained at Gymstrada until the summer of 2004. She then began competing for Excalibur. She moved to Chow's in the fall of 2010. She was on the National TOPs "A" Team in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2004, she competed as a level four. She won beam, floor and the all-around title at States. She also won the Mother May Invitational. Gabrielle jumped up to level six for the fall season with her new gym. She won the Ghost and Goblins Invitational. In the spring of 2005, she competed as a level seven. She finished second all-around at the Hurrican Invitational and Excalibur Cup. At States, she won vault, floor and the all-around title!

She moved up to level eight in 2006. Gabrielle finished second all-around at the Virginia Beach Classic. She won the Coaches Cup and Excalibur Cup. She swept the gold medals at the Super Star Invite. Gabrielle finished third all-around at States. She ended her level eight season at Regionals. She then qualified to hopes pre-elite. She competed at the US Challenge. Gabrielle finished in the top fifteen! She moved up to level nine in 2007. Gabrielle finished second all-around at the Fiesta Bowl. She won the Level 9 State Championships! At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. This performance qualified her for the Eastern Championships. She finished in the top fifteen. Gabrielle participated in hopes pre-elite again. She finished third overall at the American Challenge. She won the US Challenge!

Gabrielle began competing as a level ten in 2008. She swept the gold medals at the Virginia State Championships. At Regionals, she finished fifth all-around. She won a silver medal on beam and a bronze medal on floor. Her final level ten meet of the season was JO Nationals. Gabrielle finished in the top ten all-around! She won a bronze medal on beam. Two weeks before JO Nationals, she qualified to junior international elite at the May Elite Qualifier. At the US Classic, Gabrielle placed tenth all-around. She also qualified for the US National Championships! In December, she finished third all-around at the Christmas City Classic. She won uneven bars.

In 2009, Gabrielle won floor at the Parkette Invitational. She won bars and the all-around at the Rock N Roll Invitational. In April, she finished sixth all-around at the American Classic. She finished third on vault with a double twisting yurchenko and second on beam. She also qualified to the US National Championships in August. Gabrielle only competed on balance beam at Nationals. She had strong performances, finishing fifth. In 2010, Gabrielle won vault, beam and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Elite Qualifier. At the Excalibur Cup, she won all five gold medals. She finished third on beam and fourth all-around at the Nastia Liukin Cup. At the US Classic, she placed third on beam and ninth all-around. Gabrielle finished fourth on vault, second on beam and fourth all-around at the US National Championships. She competed at the Pan Am Championships where she placed first on bars in event finals.

Gabrielle moved into the senior division in 2011. Gabrielle competed at the City of Jesolo meet. She placed third on beam and floor. She finished second on bars at the US Classic. At the US National Championships, she finished third on bars and seventh all-around. She competed at the World Championships, helping the United States win the team gold medal! She also placed fifth on bars in event finals. In 2012, Gabrielle competed as an exhibition athlete at the American Classic. At the Pacific Rim Championships, she finished first on bars in addition to helping the United States Team place first. Gabrielle finished first on bars and third on floor at the US Classic. She won bars and placed second all-around at the US National Championships. She then won bars and the all-around at the Olympic Trials. At the Olympic Games, Gabrielle led the United States team to a gold medal! Individually, she won the all-around title! She also competed in the bars and beam event finals.
