Shannon Golich was born on August 29, 1991. She trained at Excel Gymnastics through the 2003 season. She briefly trained at Naperville Gymnastics in 2004 before joining Midwest Academy. The gym merged with Phenom after the 2006 season. She graduated from high school in 2009.
In 2003, Shannon competed level eight. She finished fourth on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on beam and second all-around. Shannon moved up to level nine in 2004. She finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the Vegas Vacation. She won the all-around title at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on floor. Shannon moved up to level ten in 2005. She finished fourth on beam at the Bravo Classic. At the State Championships, she placed second on beam. Shannon finished eleventh all-around at Regionals.
Shannon finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals in 2006. In 2007, she won vault and the all-around at the For Love or Money meet. She competed at JO Nationals. Shannon finished first on vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the 2008 Gasparilla Classic. She finished third all-around at the Cupid's Twist. She finished tenth all-around at Regionals. At the Bravo Classic in 2009, Shannon finished second on beam. She won beam at the For Love or Money meet. Shannon competed at Regionals.
As a freshman at Minnesota, Shannon competed on beam in nine meets. She competed on vault and floor in the last four meets. In 2011, Shannon competed on vault, beam and floor at every meet. She won floor at Michigan State. She also won floor against Air Force. Shannon finished first on floor at the Best of Minnesota Meet. She won beam against Iowa State. At Cal State Fullerton, Shannon won beam.
