Katherine Grable was born on May 29, 1992. She trained at Oshkosh Gymnastics in Wisconsion during her club career.

In 2003, Katherine competed level eight. She won vault at Regionals. She placed third on bars and fourth all-around. She moved up to level nine in 2004. She finished in the top fifteen at Regionals. In 2005, Katherine competed level ten. She won floor at the Vegas Vacation meet. At Regionals, she placed second on vault, bars and in the all-around. She ended her season at JO Nationals, placing 32nd. She continued competing level ten in 2006. She won beam at Regionals. She finished second all-around. At JO Nationals, Katherine placed 30th all-around.

She continued competing level ten in 2007. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the AOGC Invitational. At Regionals, she won the all-around. She finished 13th all-around at JO Nationals. Katherine placed fourth on vault and third on floor. In 2008, she won the all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At Regionals, she defended her all-around title. Katherine placed 14th all-around at JO Nationals. She finished fourth on floor and sixth on beam. Katherine also performed a new move on bars which is now known as the Grable.

In 2009, Katherine won vault and the all-around at the Midwest Challenge. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Harley Davidson Invitational, she won bars and the all-around. Katherine won vault, bars and the all-around at the OGC Invitational. At the State Championships, she won vault, beam and the all-around. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed 17th all-around. She finished sixth on vault and seventh on beam.

She ended her club career in 2010. She won vault and floor at the Winter Luau. At the Blizzard Invitational, she won vault and the all-around. She swept the gold medals at the Circle of Stars Invitational and Harley Davidson Invitational. At the OGC Invitational, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. Katherine won vault, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault and the all-around. She ended her club career at JO Nationals. She won the all-around title! she also placed third on vault and beam, second on bars and ninth on floor.

As a freshman at Arkansas in 2011, Katherine competed in the all-around. She won two all-around titles, one against Oklahoma and the other against Alabama. Katherine won vault at Denver and at the Regional Championships. She won four beam titles including dual meets against BYU, UIC, West Virginia and Denver. She won floor against Georgia. Katherine earned first-team All-American honors on floor and second-team All-American honors on vault. She earned second-team All-SEC honors in the all-around.
