Diane Grey was born in Houston, Texas on June 17, 1988. Diane first started gymnastics at C-Stars when she was eight. She competed as a level nine in 1999 with Infinite Bounds She then switched to WOGA. When Diane and her family moved to Houston she started to train at Brown's Gymnastics. She switched to Cypress in 2004 so she could attend regular school. Diane is now a freshman at the University of New Hampshire.
In 1999, Diane competed as a level nine. She qualified to the Western Championships. In 2000, Diane competed as a level 10. She placed fifth at states. After states, she competed at the Regional Championships. At regionals she placed second and qualified for the Level 10 Nationals. Diane plaecd sixth on beam at nationals. 2001 was her first year as an elite. She qualified to junior national elite but was never able to compete it due to an ankle injury. Diane made international elite in 2002. Hampered by a back injury Diane was recovered enough to compete at the US Classic. Diane once again qualified to international elite in 2003. During podium training for the US Classic Diane hurt herself and had to scratch. 2004 was Diane's first year a senior international elite. She was able to compete at the US Classic but did not make it to the US National Championships.
In 2005, Diane dropped down to level 10. She started her season by placing third at the WOGA Classic. At the Pikes Peak Cup she placed fourth. Diane scored at least a 9.3 or above on every event at states. She finished third. She moved on to regionals and placed third. At nationals she placed 19th all-around. In 2006, she made JO Nationals again. Her performance was hampered by an injury.
As a freshmean at the University of New Hampshire, she earned EAGL Rooke of the Week on January 6. She was an EAGL All-League Selection and a member of the EAGL Academic Team. As a sophomore, she finished third on bars against Alaska, Bridgeport and Brown. She was also an NACGC/W Scholastic All-American and a member of the EAGL All-Academic Team. As a junior, she competed on vault and bars. Diane won bars against Bridgetport, Air Force and Yale. She earned her third spot on the EAGL All-Academic Team.
