Alexis Gross was born on January 18, 1993. She will graduate from Archbishop Spalding High School in 2011. She trains at Docksiders Gymnastics in Maryland.
Alexis started her competitive career as a level five in 2001. She finished in the top ten on floor at the Maryland State Championships. The following year, in 2002, she moved up to level six. She qualified for her second state championships. In 2003, Alexis finished seventh all-around as a level seven at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2004. As a level nine in 2005, Alexis finished third on beam at the Hilton Invitational. At the WOGA Classic, she won a bronze medal on bars and a silver medal on beam.
She competed level nine for the second year in 2006. At the Sweetheart Invitational, she finished sixth all-around. At the State Championships, she finished fourth all-around. She won two silver medals: one on bars and one on beam. Alexis was also named to the Maryland State Team by having one of the top six all-around scores. She moved up to level ten in 2007. In December 2006, Alexis won the Christmas on the Chesapeake Invitational. Besides the all-around, she won beam and finished second on bars. At the Maryland Classic in January Alexis placed second on beam. She won a silver medal on bars at the State Championships! In addition she placed fourth all-around. At Regionals, Alexis became the first alternate to JO Nationals.
Alexis had a great 2008 season. At the Maryland Classic she finished second on bars in preliminaries. During finals she finished fourth. At the Metroplex Challenge in Dallas, Texas, Alexis finished fourth on vault and floor. She also finished third on bars, second on beam and second all-around. Her next meet was the IGI Chicago Style. She won bars, floor and the all-around titles! Alexis also won the Sweetheart Invite and Tampa Bay Turners Invite. She finished seventh all-around at States. At Regionals, Alexis won a silver medal on bars. By placing in the top seven all-around, she captured a spot on the JO National Team. At her first JO National Championships she placed in the top twenty all-around! She also scored her first 37.00 in the all-around.
