Caroline Gunderson was born on August 3, 1999. She trained at National Elite Gymnastics through the 2010 season. She then moved to WOGA. She will graduate from high school in 2017.

In the fall of 2006, Caroline competed level four. She moved up to level five in 2007. In 2008, Caroline competed level six. She won vault, bars and floor at the South State Championships. She placed second all-around. At the State Championships, she finished first on vault. She placed third all-around. Caroline continued competing level six in 2009. She won floor and the all-around at Rising Stars Invitational. At the District Championships, she placed first on vault and floor. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the South State Championships. Caroline won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships.

Caroline competed level seven in 2010. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Heart of Texas meet. She finished third all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. At the Rose City Classic, she placed third on beam. Caroline began competing level eight in 2011. She had strong performance at the IGI Chicago Style and WOGA Classic. At the Houston National Invitational, she finished fourth on floor.
