Rachel Gurnett was born on October 10, 1996. She trained at Penev's Gymnastics through the 2006 season. She then moved to Rochester Gymnastics Academy. She will graduate from high school in 2014.
In 2005, Rachel competed level five. She moved up to level six in 2006 and level seven in 2007. She won bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. Rachel competed level eight in 2008. She won beam and floor at the Rochester Classic. She won beam and finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on vault, floor and the all-around.
Rachel competed level nine in 2009. She won vault, beam, and floor at the Sand Dollar Invitational. Rachel won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Rochester Classic. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault and placed second all-around. Rachel won vault at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2010. She finished second all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won vault at the Rochester Classic. She finished second all-around at the I Love NY Cup. Rachel won beam and the all-around at the State Championships. She won bars, beam and the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed fifth on beam and 21st all-around. Rachel was invited to an elite developmental camp in September.
