Kaitlin Hardy was born on February 11, 1990. She trained at Parkettes during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2008.

In 2003, Kaitlin competed level nine. She finished fourth on vault at the Parkette Invitational. She competed level ten in 2004. She competed at the Desert Devils Classic. In 2005, Kaitlin finished eleventh all-around at Regionals. She placed third all-around at the 2006 Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She won the all-around title at the Parkette Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars. She finished eighth all-around at Regionals. She finished 27th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2007, Kaitlin finished second all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She placed second on bars and fifth all-around at the State Championships. She won beam and the all-around at the 2008 Parkette Invitational. She won floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished eleventh all-around.

Kaitlin struggled with epilepsy during her first three seasons at Cornell.
