Kailyn Hawkins was born on December 13, 1992. She began gymnastics at the age of five. She trained at Tumblebees Gymnastics through the 2000 season. Since then, Kailyn has trained at Southeastern Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2000, Kailyn competed level five. She finished third all-around at the Judges Cup. She placed fourth at the Turkey Tumble. At the State Championships, she finished fifth all-around. She moved up to level six in 2001. She won vault at the State Championships. She placed third all-around. She immediately moved up to level seven in 2002. She finished second on vault and fifth all-around at the State Championships. Kailyn competed level eight in 2003. She finished second on vault at the State Championships.

Kailyn began competing level nine in 2004. She finished second all-around at the Sweetheart Invitational. In 2005, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. Kailyn won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished fourth on vault and bars. At Easterns, Kailyn finished second all-around! She also placed sixth on floor, fifth on vault and ninth on beam. She moved up to level ten in 2006. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed fourth. She ended her season at JO Nationals, finishing 6th on bars. She missed the 2007 season due to injury.

She came back strong in 2008. Kailyn won vault at the Buckeye Classic and the National Gymnastics Challenge. She also placed second all-around at both meets. At the State Championships, she finished first on vault and second all-around. She placed first on vault and second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished sixth all-around. She placed seventh on bars. In 2009, Kailyn won vault and the all-around at the Hilton Head Island Invitational. She won beam and floor at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, she finished first on beam and floor. She placed second all-around. Kailyn also finished second at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed third on vault, ninth on floor and 19th all-around.

In 2010, Kailyn won vault, bars and the all-around at the Twin City Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she won vault and the all-around. Kailyn won vault at the Sweetheart meet. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Charleston Cup. At the State Championships, she finished second on vault. Kailyn won bars and floor at Regionals. She placed second all-around. At JO Nationals, she finished fourth on floor.
