Hope Bruce was born on August 1, 1991. Hope trained at Nations Gymnastics in 2004. She moved to Zenith Elite in 2005 and then moved to US Gold-Excite in 2006. Hope followed her coaches to Denton in 2007. She graduated from high school in 2010.
In 2004, Hope competed level seven. She finished first on bars and second all-around at the North State Championships. She competed level nine in 2005. She won beam at Westerns. She finished 16th all-around. In 2006, Hope competed level ten. She finished third on floor at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. Hope placed third on bars and second on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished third all-around and first on beam. Hope placed fourth on vault and eighth all-around at JO Nationals. She qualified to junior international elite later that year. She competed at the US Classic.
Hope continued to participate in elite qualifier competitions in 2007 and 2008. She finished sixth on vault at the 2008 Massillia Cup. In 2009, she finished third all-around at the Metroplex Challenge in the senior elite division. She finished fourth all-around at the Rose City Classic as a level ten. In 2010, Hope competed at the Buckeye Classic.
