Kaitlynn Hedelund was born on January 29, 1996. She trains at Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia Beach. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2003, she competed as a level four. Kaitlynn placed ninth at the State Championships out of 63 competitors! She moved up to level five in 2004. She finished second all-around at Sectionals. Kaitlynn had a good meet at States. She jumped up to level seven for the 2005 season. She finished fourth all-around at the Virginia Beach Classic and Excalibur Cup. At States, she finished third all-around. Kaitlynn qualified to the National TOP "B" Team in the fall.

She moved up to level eight in 2006. Kaitlynn finished third all-around at the Virginia Beach Classic. Kaitlynn finished second all-around at States. She ended her level eight season at Regionals. In the fall, she qualified for the National TOPs Team. She moved up to level nine in 2007. She competed at the Gymnix International in Canada. At Regionals, she finished fifth all-around. Kaitlynn ended her season at the Eastern Championships. She finished third on floor and in the top twenty all-around! She made her second National TOP Team in the fall.

Kaitlynn qualified to hopes pre-elite at the Parkette National Qualifier in February, 2008. In May, she competed at the Level 9 Eastern Championships. She finished in the top ten on floor. A few weeks later she placed in the top ten at the US Challenge. She moved up to level ten in 2009. She placed sixth all-around at the Parkettes Invitational. She won beam and floor at the Rock N Roll Invitational. She placed second all-around. Kaitlynn placed fourth all-around at States. She finished third all-around at Regionals. She also won a bronze medal on vault. Kaitlynn ended her level ten season at JO Nationals. She placed in the top twenty all-around! Earlier in the year she qualified to junior pre-elite at the Excalibur Cup. She did well at the US Challenge.

In 2010, Kaitlyn competed level ten. She finished second on bars at the Parkette Invitational and Excalibur Cup. She placed second all-around at the State Championships. She won bars. At the Regional Championships, she placed second on bars and third on beam. She ended her season at the JO National Invitational Tournament, competing on vault, bars and beam. She won bars.
