Amber Heltemes was born on January 24, 1996. She trains at Twin City Twisters. Amber will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2006, Amber competed level seven. She won vault at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second on floor and third on bars. She continued competing level seven in 2007. In 2008, Amber moved up to level eight. She won vault and finished second all-around at the Rising Stars Invitational. She finished second all-around at the Gopher Women's Invitational. At Regionals, she placed in the top ten.

Amber moved up to level nine in 2009. She finished second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style and third all-around at the Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she won vault, floor and the all-around. Amber placed second on every event and in the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed sixth on bars. She finished eighth all-around. Amber continued competing level nine in 2010. She won bars at the Gopher Women's Invitational and Winter Challenge. At the Long Beach Open, she won bars and beam. Amber won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Northern Lights Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars and beam. She placed second all-around. Amber won bars and floor at Regionals in addition to placing second all-around. At Westerns, Amber placed second on floor, fourth all-around and sixth on vault.

She began competing level ten in the 2010-2011 season. She opened the season by placing second on beam at the Peppermint Twist.
