Maddie Herr was born on July 26, 1994. She trains at Vasi's International Gymnastics.

In 2004, she competed as a level seven. She finished sixth on floor at State. She moved up to level eight in 2005. Maddie won the I Love NY Cup. She qualified to Regionals. In 2006, Maddie moved up to level nine. She finished third all-around at the Aquafina Team Challenge. She won bars. At State, Maddie won a bronze medal on bars. She finished her season at Regionals with a fourth place finish on beam.

Maddie continued competing as a level nine in 2007. She finished first all-around at the I Love NY Cup. She won bars and beam. At State, she placed second all-around. She placed fifth on beam and ended her season at Regionals. She moved up to level ten in 2008. Maddie finished third all-around at State. She won a silver medal on beam! At Regionals, she finished eighth all-around. In 2009, she finished third on beam and second on bars at the Manhattan Classic. She placed fourth all-around at the Northeast Invitational. She won a bronze medal on beam. She finished sixth all-around at State. In 2010, Maddie finished first on bars at the DGS Invitational. She won bars and beam at the Ocean State Classic. She only competed on beam at the State Championships, finishing second. Maddie finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the 2011 State Championships. She competed at Regionals.
