Courtney Hibler was born on November 25, 1984. She is the daughter of Larry and Jan Hibler. She has a younger sister, Erin. She began gymnastics at the age of five years old because she was always climbing on furniture. Courtney trained with Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2002, Courtney competed as a level nine. She won the Western Championships! She also won silvers on bars and floor. She was named the Arizona Gymnast of the Year. In 2003, she moved up to level ten. Courtney finished fourth all-around at the Arizona State Championships. She finished second on beam and floor. Her final club meet was Regionals.

As a freshman at Sac State, she competed on three-events. She was in the floor lineup for ten meets. Courtney also competed on bars and beam. She took a medical redshirt after breaking her foot before the season in 2005. In 2006, she was in the beam and floor lineup before a knee injury at San Jose State. Courtney came back for one last beam routine during her senior season.
