Darlene Hill was born on September 24, 1989. She changed her name to Darling in 2008. She began gymnastics in 1998. Her favorite event is floor. She trained at Will-Moor Gymnastics in New Jersey. She competed as a level nine in 2002. Darlene placed fourth all-around at States. She finished in the top ten at Regionals. Her final meet of the season was Easterns. She finished fourth all-around! Darlene won vault.
In 2003, she continued to compete as a level nine. At Easterns, she won the all-around title! Darlene also won three individual event titles on vault, bars and floor. She moved up to level ten in 2004. She finished sixth all-around at States. Darlene then won Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed first all-around! She then qualified to junior pre-elite. Darlene competed at the US Challenge. She was named to the US National Training Squad. In 2005, Darlene competed at some open invitationals. In 2006, she won the New Jersey Level 10 State Championships. Darlene then qualified to senior international elite. She competed at the US Classic. At the US National Championships, she could not complete the competition on the second day because of an ankle injury.
Darlene returned in 2007. She competed at the US Classic, where she qualified for the US National Championships. Darlene placed in the top ten all-around at Nationals, making the National Team. Later that year, she comepted at the Glasgow Grand Prix. She placed fourth on bars. She competed at the 2008 Pacific Rim Championships where she helped the team win gold and individually won the gold on floor. She competed on three events at the International Friendship Exchange. Darlene did not compete all-around at the 2008 US National Championships. She ended her season at the Olympic Trials.
