Sydney Hinton was born on October 11, 1993. She trains at Auburn Gymnastics Center in Washington. She will graduate from high school in 2012.
In 2004, Sydney competed level four. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. She competed level six in 2006. She won bars at the Vegas Vacation meet. Sydney competed level seven in 2007. She won the all-around title at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished fifth on floor and the all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational. At the State Championship, she won floor and the all-around. She competed level eight in 2008. Sydney finished first on floor at the National Judges Cup. She placed second on vault at both the State and Regional Championships.
Sydney continued competing level eight in 2009. She placed third on vault at the Crystal Cup and Byers Invitational. She finished second on vault at the MAC Open. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. Sydney competed level nine in 2010. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the National Judges Cup. She also placed first on vault, beam and the all-around at the All American Invitational. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Emerald Team Challenge. She placed first on floor and second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won all five gold medals. Sydney placed fourth on floor and seventh all-around at Westerns. In 2011, Sydney placed first on vault and floor at the Battle in Seatle meet. She won floor at the Crystal Cup. At the March Madness meet, she won the all-around title. Sydney won vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on vault and floor. She finished third all-around. Sydney won the all-around title at Westerns! She also placed second on vault, sixth on bars, eighth on beam and third on floor. She was the only gymnast in her age division to place in the top ten on every event and the all-around.
