Catherine Hires was born on April 15, 1992. She trained at South Florida Gymnastics Academy in 2003 before moving to LaFleur's Tampa. Catherine graduated from high school in 2010.

In 2003, Catherine competed level seven. She competed level nine in 2005. She finished fourth on bars at Regionals, the only event she competed. In 2006, she competed level ten. She placed in the top fifteen at Regionals. Catherine won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the 2007 Lightning City Invitational. She won bars, floor and the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault and bars. Catherine won the all-around title at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed second on bars, sixth all-around and ninth on vault.

She continued competing level ten in 2008. She finished first on vault and bars at the Tampa Bay Classic. She won floor at the Hard Rock Invitational. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars and the all-around. Catherine won vault at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she won bars and placed third on vault. She finished 16th all-around. In 2009, she won floor and the all-around at the National Judges Cup. She won vault and the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. Catherine won vault and bars at the Sand Dollar Invitational and vault, beam, and floor at the California Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault and placed third all-around. Catherine won vault, floor and the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished fifth on vault and beam, eighth on bars and 12th all-around.

Catherine ended her club career in 2010. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Tampa Bay Classic. She won bars at the Sand Dollar Invitational and IGI Chicago Style. Catherine won beam, floor and the all-around at the Daytona Beach Open. At the Tim Rand Invitational, she won floor. She finished first on beam and vault at the State Championships. She placed second all-around. Catherine won vault, floor and the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she won bars and placed tenth on floor. She finished 14th all-around.
